Passion for Research, Technology & Innovation
This is Michelle
I’m a PhD researcher at the Neuro & Digital Marketing Lab at IQS School of Management in Barcelona, where I explore why people reject sustainable products, even when they care about the planet. My research focuses on how emotions, identity, and stereotypes (like gender norms) shape sustainable consumer behavior. As such, I work at the intersection of neuromarketing, psychology, and sustainability, using experimental methods and tools like electroencephalography (EEG) to measure brain activity, galvanic skin response (GSR) to assess emotional arousal, and facial expression analysis (FEA) to capture nonverbal emotional reactions.
Before diving into academia, I worked in online marketing and project management, gaining hands-on experience in SEO, social media strategy, and marketing campaign execution. I’ve lived and worked in Australia and Spain, led diverse teams, and thrived in fast-paced, multicultural environments.
I’m passionate about sharing insights, speaking about the topics that move me, and connecting with people who are just as excited about ideas, innovation, and real-world impact.
If you asked me to describe myself, I would say I’m a mix of a workaholic who loves to work and an undercover nerd who secretly enjoys diving into nerdy stuff.
WORKAHOLIC SIDE
I have built up a lot of experience in online marketing and project management, getting really good at it. My journey has taken me to various places – I even lived and worked in Australia for a whole year. And all the while, I’ve managed to keep up with work while pursuing my studies.
NERDY SIDE
My academic journey started with a Bachelor’s degree in Frankfurt, during which I spent a year studying in Valencia. After that, I went on to do a Masters in Barcelona. And now, I’m getting ready for a PhD.
My foundation lies in international business, while my heart beats for online marketing and technology. A strong passion for sustainability fuels my interests.
I’m always wanting to learn more and keep exploring.
I’m excited about new challenges and making a difference in my studies and work.
